Meet the Team

Karl Woodley

Karl built his career and the majority his qualifications at Sunseeker, learning best practice in a constantly evolving environment. Over nearly 2 decades, Karl went from a trade, all the way to Senior production engineer, where he had roles of managing/servicing equipment, managing technical lifts all the way to creating and installing bespoke equipment to ensure safety and efficiency were always maximized. Karl has continued working with a number of companies where safety and reliability were key. Having seen an opportunity in the market to provide a professional, price competitive and timely service he decided to start Sedge Works Ltd.

Karl recently visited Japan when meeting with various crane manufacturers and has developed a healthy appreciation of Sake and Kei cars. With a real passion for all motors, Karl spends a lot of time on motorbikes and given his riding, fixing them too.

Matthew Scheelings

Matt has always been interested in business and operations. Starting his formal career in accountancy, he has worked as a consultant improving processes and innovating for a considerable number of companies and industries including chartered accounting firms, insurance as well as property developers and investors such Battersea Power Station, Mileway and The Blackstone Group.

In his spare time, when his knee doesnt give way, Matt enjoys riding motorbikes, cycling, travelling and on occasion, spending time with his family.

Kevin Powell

Kevin has always been interested in boats and machinery, starting his career as a dockmaster at MDL Marinas. With a passion for detail, a desire to please the customer and various efficiency drives he worked all the way up to manage multiple marinas. Importantly for us this includes the lifting and safety aspects.

In his spare time, when he isnt running after his family in the desperate hope his two boys dont grow bigger and stronger than him, he manages an aquatic sea world that is slowing taking over his lounge. To constantly prove that he can do anything he puts his mind to, he has practically built two houses from the structural engineering all the way to putting the final tiles on the roof!

Jonathan Scheelings

Jon has always enjoyed the logical side of things in life and often sees things in 1's & 0's. Engineering was the logical choice for this infliction allowing him to work all over the world including Australia, Malaysia, Japan, Turkey, UK, Taiwan and others that are just as controversial. Jon has worked on many large tax payer funded projects including the Shinkansen and the turkish bosphoros straight crossing. Jon loves a challenge and to discuss how one can lift the rolling stock as well as how to store it for extended periods with minimal degradation.

In his spare time, when he isnt playing computer games, Jon plays badminton with the most colourful sweatbands that can be found, which some believe resulted in him having to move his whole family to a new country every few years.

Andy Gardiner

Andy has always been a competitive individual, first getting into sailors as a teen. Whether he was racing yachts or drinking shots he always wanted to be first. Andy has spent nearly as much time living on a yacht as dry land, mainly to limit his interactions with other people. Andy’s experience as a sailor boy and his focus on safety culminated in a number of Super Yacht Captain roles, where no one died, although there was at least one attempted mutiny.

More recently Andy has worked with Peters and May, managing countless staff and accidents.

When Andy isn’t working he is busy looking after other peoples kids (he reminds them daily) and has recently run all the way to New Zealand as a result of a pizza oven fire (apparently caused by someone else).

Fast, Professional Response: Working in a quarry, where the environment can be harsh, demands a reliable source for repairs, maintenance, and solutions. Time is money, and your team consistently arrives as scheduled without fail. Keep up the great work! Thank you.
